Phosphate aging tank is one of the most important equipment in the production ofWet-process phosphoric acid (WPA). Normally, the phosphorus gypsum will deposited ifthe motor power is not strong enough, that is bad for aging effect. It will increase thepower consumption of the stirrer, and it will increase the costs of input on the equipmentrunning if the stirring intensity of the stirrer is too tremendous. Therefore, the study onsolid-liquid two-phase mixing process in the phosphate aging tank is an important part ofthe improvement of the WPA.This paper is based on the study of a project Φ12500×12500phosphate aging tankin the production process of energy-saving. Computational fluid dynamics softwareFLUENT was used for numerical simulation analysis of phosphoric acid aging tankthree-dimensional flow field, and focused on the relationship between the stirring powerconsumption of phosphogypsum solid particles suspended uniformity and the conditionsof aging phosphate tank operating. The works had been done as follows:Firstly, software named Gambit and Mixsim were used as a pre-processing modulein order to establish a phosphate aging tank geometry model and mesh model, and thenthe impeller area was encrypted;Secondly, in order to prove the quality of grid satisfied the accuracy requirements inthe numerical simulation. This paper had done PIV experiment and CFD numericalsimulation on rushton disk turbine, after compared the results of the two experiments, wefound that the error of numerical simulation is in the reasonable range;Thirdly, in order to prove the numerical simulation method which used in this studyis appropriate, numerical simulation method had been done which fit the literatureexperiment. The numerical simulation results of a stirred tank concentration distributionis consistent with the measured conductance experiments in the literature by measuringthe distribution of the concentration of5%and10%of the concentration of the stirred tank;Fourthly, the experiment demonstrated the meshing strategies which be used in thepresent study and numerical simulation method can meet the accuracy of requirements ofthe stirred tank with solid-liquid two-phase mixing process. In this paper, a phosphateaging tank solid-liquid two-phase mixing process was simulated. The simulation resultsshowed that the performance of the mixing paddle dimension of the impeller of PBTD45are best if D=0.33T, impeller distance from the bottom C=0.33T, baffle factor Kb=0.35.The research on the phosphoric acid aging tank has some useful value for thetechnology accumulation and improvement.
