Motor vehicleemissions into the atmosphere pollutants have become the important factor affecting the urbanair quality in China. In addition to continuously improve the new production of motor vehicleemission standards and accelerating oil for automobile upgrade, strengthen environmentalprotection of motor vehicles regular inspection and strict implementation of the I/M systemhave become the important means of domestic and foreign controlling vehicle emissions andimproving the urban air quality. At present, for in-use vehicle emission test method in ourcountry is gradually from the original two-speed idle and free acceleration methodsdevelopment to simple driving mode. The running state of the motor vehicle in the periodicinspection of environmental protection is closer to the actual running state of the vehicle, thetest results can reflect the vehicle’s actual emission levels. Now, Sichuan Province isaccelerating driving mode Environmental regularly inspection, Conducted on the researches ofregularly inspection of motor vehicles in use environmentally friendly methods and emissionlimits are the issues needed to overcome, which our province is to implement the I/M systemand to control the vehicle pollutant emissions.This paper have studied various types of vehicles population of our province, pollutantemissions, pollutant formations and hazards, regularly environmental inspection methods ofmotor vehicles in use, also compared the various methods, and also research the pollutantsemissions of motor vehicles in use and the implementation of I/M system.This paper have combined with the reduction targets and tasks of “Twelve Five" totalpollutant, and established the macro accounting model of the motor vehicle NOxemissions.The same time, the use of office software to quickly calculate the various regions of motorvehicle nitrogen oxide emissions, also referenced to the introduction of emission reductionpolicies for cities.In this paper, according to the principles and methods of automotive simple driving modeexhaust emission limits which the National spark ignition engines determined, a large numberof real vehicle emission tests are conducted with simple driving mode, and combined with thevarious types of motor vehicle population and the pollutant emissions of Sichuan province,tentatively setting the VMAS exhaust emission limits to meet the actual situation of ourprovince spark ignition engine.
