The electroless Co-Ni-P-RE alloy coatings under ultrasonic waves were studiedin this paper. Effect of ultrasonic parameters, electroless plating solutioncompositions, electroless parameters and rare earth on deposition rate,electrochemical property, the composition, structure, morphology and magneticproperty of Co-Ni-P-RE alloy films were discussed in this paper. The optimumformulations of electroless Co-Ni-P alloys were confirmed by compared thedeposition rate at different conditions; then on this basis, the effects of rare earth onthe process of Co-Ni-P-RE alloys were observed. The electrochemical properties ofCo-Ni-P-RE solutions were taste to explain some impact mechanism from the viewof electrochemical analysis. The structure, composition and morphology ofCo-Ni-P-RE alloys were tested by XRD, SEM, EDS. The magnetic properties ofCo-Ni-P-RE alloy coatings were also studied. The result showed that depositionrate of Co-Ni-P-RE was increased under ultrasonic waves, the stability of the bathwas decreased with large ultrasonic power. The composition and magneticproperties were changed by ultrasonic waves. Although rare earth caused thedeposition rate decreasing, the stability of bath, the quality and performance ofalloy coatings were improved. Rare earth not only affect the components of Co, Niand P, but also can achieve total deposition; Co-Ni-P-RE alloy coatings becamecrystal with rare earth, Co-Ni-P-Ce alloy coatings were at the state ofmicrocrystalline, Co-Ni-P-La alloy coatings were at the state of crystal. Themorphology of Co-Ni-P-Ce alloy films was cellular, the size was influenced byCe’s addition amount, and the morphology of Co-Ni-P-La alloy films was granular.The soft magnetic property of films was the best in the optimal addition amount ofrare earth (Ce0.4g/L, La0.6g/L).
