In the case of environmental pollution getting worse, the people are more andmore aware of the importance of air environmental protection, the comprehensiveand objective evaluation of urban air environmental quality is urgently needed. Thetraditional numerical simulation method can’t intuitionistic reflect the spread ofpollution in space, while the Geographic Information System (GIS) has a goodspatial attributes carrying capacity. The integration of GIS and air status evaluationmodel can give full play to the advantages of GIS spatial analysis and spatial dataprocessing. Taking the Hefei city as an example, this paper explores theconstruction of air environmental quality evaluation system in Hefei city based onGIS. The system’s overall design idea is mainly used the.NET platform andArcEngine development component, which supplemented by the plug-in technology.The dynamic data are exchanged through ArcSDE and a specially developed datainterface management and conversion the spatial data and attribute data. Theresearch mainly includes the following sections:(1) The paper analyzes the system through the principles、database design、theoverall design of the GIS secondary development and investigate the combinationof the GIS and air quality evaluation model, which aim is to demonstrate theconstruction of the air environmental quality evaluation system in Hefei city.(2) The paper not only designs and establishes the database and overallframework structures of the air environmental quality evaluation system, but alsointroduces the framework、the association schemes and the calculation process ofthe combination GIS with air quality evaluation model, the application of GIStechnology in air quality modeling process is preliminary explored.(3) Air environmental quality model is analyzed through the classification ofair pollution dispersion model and characteristics of the model. The design theoryand programming methods of air environmental quality evaluation model are putforward according to the climate characteristics、 the pollution meteorologicalconditions and the air pollution diffusion parameter calculation in Hefei city(4) The paper establishes the GIS-based air quality evaluation model in Hefei city by using the GIS spatial analysis function and employing the methods of themonitoring data of the monitoring sites and the simulation data of grid-basedevaluation. The simulation data of grid-based evaluation method realizes thevisualization management of pollution source which principle is to calculate theconcentration values for each grid and generate the pollution concentrationsthematic maps based on grid and contour.
