In recent years, the organic electroluminescent material is a hot research topicaround the world. With the development of OLED technology, the study of electrontransport material is drawing more and more attentions. Due to unique structure,1,10-phenanthroline not only has a good coordination, but also is an importantintermediate for organic synthesis.4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline, which is a rigidplanar structure with high electronic mobility, not only is a main light-emittingmaterial, but also as an excellent electron transport material. With good electrontransport performance, high thermal stability and chemical stability performance,1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives are very excellent electron transport materials.This article is divided into two parts:The first part is to study the synthesis of the organic electroluminescent material4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline. At the present time, it is reported that these ligandsare prepared by arsenate or arsenic pentoxide as an oxidant, which is highly toxicsubstance. This is very unfriendly to environment and not conductive to economicdevelopment. Therefore, it is necessary to find a synthetic route without arseniccompounds as the oxidant of the reaction. In this paper,4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline is prepared with iodine/potassium iodide as the oxidant of thereaction by the improved Skraup reaction. The synthetic conditions of the compoundare studied in details. Moreover, the amount of oxidant, reaction temperature, reactiontime and feeding molar ratios on the impact of the synthesis are discussed. Finally, theoptional experimental conditions are determined. The structures of each intermediatesand the final products are conformed by IR and1H NMR.The second part is to study the synthesis of2,5-diphenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole. Weuse methyl benzoate and benzoyl chloride as the starting materials to synthesizeintermediate N,N′-dibenzoylhydrazine. Afterwards,2,5-diphenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole issynthesized by using phosphorus oxychloride as the dehydrating agent. Syntheticconditions of each step of the reaction are studied in details. And the bestexperimental conditions are determined. The thermal and optical properties of thefinal compounds are also studied. The structures of each intermediates and the finalproducts are conformed by IR and1H NMR.
