The acetal-type biodegradable surfactants are widely used in many fields based on itssuperior performance. After play their role, many conventional surfactant will generatefulsome phenomenon such as bubble, emulsification and so on. These phenomenon will bringdestructive to the circumstance around us such as soil, water. Many chemists dedicated to theresearch synthesis of biodegradable surfactants to solve the problem. The acetal-typesurfactant is an environmentally friendly, green, human-friendly surfactant, which caneliminate the adverse factors through degraded to the raw material under the acidic condition.Based on the above facts, the main purpose of this paper is to synthesize a series ofacetal-type surfactant containing1,3-dioxane cyclic structure, determine and analyse theirperformance.In this research project, seventeen kinds of acetal(ketals)-type compounds whichcontaining1,3-dioxane cyclic structure were prepared by using2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl)propionic(butyric) acid and aldehydes(ketal) as raw materials, p-toluenesulfonic acid ascatalyst, and seven kinds of acetal-type biodegradable anionic surfactants were synthesizedby former seven kinds of acetal-type products with sodium hydroxide. Of which, theoptimum conditions of5-methyl-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dioxan-5-carboxylic acid wereinvestigated from the amount of catalyst, reaction time, the ratio of reaction materials anddosage of water-carrying agent. The optimum reaction conditions of2-(2-chlorophenyl)-5-ethyl-1,3-dioxane-5-carboxylic acid were investigated. The single crystal of5-methyl-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-1,3-dioxan-5-carboxylic acid was cultivated by using the method ofslow evaporation of the solvent ethyl acetate. The structure of the monocrystal wasdetermined by single crystal diffraction.In the Investigating of fully degradation of seven kinds of acetal-type biodegradableanionic surfactants under the acidic condition, we found that the shorter alkyl chain, the fasterthe degradation rate was, and their critical micelle concentration (cmc), blistering, Krafftpoint and emulsification were determined. In addition, we had investigated the inhibitioneffect of six kinds of surfactants for Bacillus subtilis, and found that the longer the alkylchain and the higher the concentration of the surfactant, the better the antibacterial effect was.In this paper, fourteen kinds of acetals and three ketals compounds (in which, fourteenkinds of acetal and two ketal products have not been reported) were prepared through2,2-bis (hydroxymethyl) propionic (butyric) acid as raw material, p-toluenesulfonic acid ascatalyst, cyclohexane as water-carrying agent, DMF as the solvent. Seven kinds of acetal-type anionic surfactants were synthesized by the fourteen kinds of acetals and threeketals, and five performances and an application of the surfactants were determined. Amonocrystal was cultivated and its crystal structure was determined.
