Hot-rolled H-beam is a kind of efficient economic profiles with a reasonable crosssection structure, which has been developing at an irresistible rate and widely used since itcame into the world. However, due to the complexity of deformation, the unevenextension of web and flange often appear in the production process of hot rolled H-beam,so-called "tongue-shaped head", which needs to be removed from the H-beam after thecompletion of rolling. Considering the industrial production demand of hot-rolled H-beam,it is practical significance to reduce the cut head loss of the H-beam and analyses thedeformation law and influences about head deformation zone in the H-beam rollingproduction project fully and systematically.Based on the actual rolling schedule, we take the specification of HW250×250×9×14as the research object, establish a reasonable finite element analytic model and simulatethe process of H-beam rolling production by using ABAQUS software during the ninepasses of the H-beam universal rolling production process. We also make a study on theeffect law of rolling friction coefficient on tongue-shaped head, according to the principleof H-beam universal rolling and the friction factor of the rolling contact surface betweenthe rolled piece and roll.There are three different types of rolling contact surface between rolled piece and rollin the H-beam rolling process. We change the friction coefficient of different types ofcontact surface to simulate the rolling production by using the finite element software.According to the analysis of the simulation results, we realize the change trend of thedisplacement field of tongue head, the length of tongue head, the largest plastic straincomponent and the Mises stress distribution component when friction coefficient changes,and analysis the effect law of rolling friction coefficient on tongue-shaped head.To investigate further, this paper presents an experiment on the deformation of theH-beam. Through changing the rolling friction coefficient of the different types of contactsurface, the experimental data about the tongue length of web and flange-shaped headportion are received, which show the influence rule of the length of tongue-shaped head when the friction coefficient changes, and verify the consistency of both finiteelement analysis and experiment by comparing the experimental results.
