Energy saving is the main topic at nowadays for all industries as energy consumption is more demanding.Paper industry consumed a mass of energy,so how to improve the energy consumption efficiency is the main topic to China paper industry.As the first step on papermaking,wire section consumes around 20%of total electric energy,and 40%of the power is applied to drive the rolls in wire section.The consumption of the roll-driving is mainly to support and drive the reciprocating motion of the forming wire.Usually forming wire is applying polyester or the mixture of polyester and polyamide filaments as its weft material,and polyester can ensure the forming wire with good dimensional stability and polyamide can provide wearing resistance.As an expensive consumable material and with expectation of longer working time for the machine,paper mills are always demanded that forming wire has longer lifetime.For ensuring the requirement,usually the mixture of polyester and polyamide filament is used as the weft of the bottom material of the forming wire.The disadvantages of the mixture weft is the bottom surface is not even,driving efficiency is low,and the situation of slipage and higher driving load tends to be happen.For this reason,lower coefficient of friction and higher wearing resistance of new single material are needed.In this paper,a new type of polyester filament is proposed to be used in the weaving of forming wire instead of traditional forming wire.The new type of polyester filament has lower coefficient of friction,so as to reduce the friction between wire and the dewatering box,and reduce energy consumption when forming wire is running.The main contents of this paper are as follows:1.The coefficients of friction of new polyester yarn and regular polyester and polyamide yarns were measured at different temperature.The results indicated that the new polyester yarn has lower coefficient of friction,so the yarn is called Low coefficient of friction polyester yarn(LPETY).2.In order to estimate the feasibility of LPETY in paper industry,some samples were weaved in the same standard and structure using different materials.The basic data of the samples,such as thickness,permeability,strain in tension were measured and the results showed that the forming wire made of LPETY is more compact,less elongated under tension,and lower permeability than the other materials Meanwhile,the wearing resistance and friction property of the samples were also measured and the results indicated that the forming wire made of LPETY has better wear resistance and lower friction that made of the mixture of polyester and polyamide yarns.3.Based on analysis of LPETY and its forming wire,the application in paper industry of the forming wire was carried out and related properties were measured.The results showed that by using forming wire made of LPETY the the energy consumption was obviously reduced and its lifetime was similar to the regular materials.Therefore,it was considered that LPETY can be able to replace the traditional yarn mixture of polyester and polyamide in paper industry.
