NC Incremental Forming For PVC

The NC incremental forming process is a new sheet forming method, due to the advantages ofhigh flexibility, low-cost and short lead-time, recently, this technology has been received wideattention and research by the scholars all around the world, but the NC incremental formingtechnology research has been limited to the field of sheet metal. Do some researches on polymer sheetNC incremental forming, not only of great significance to promote the application of incrementalforming technology, but also can provide a flexible processing method to produce low volume,high-quality polymer materials production.In this paper, PVC sheet as the test object. First, using friction between the forming tool which isrolling at high speed and the sheet metal to heating the sheet, so that the sheet formed in its softeningtemperature range, thereby improved the formability of incremental forming for PVC sheet. Second,Study the effects of the incremental forming process parameters of PVC sheet to obtain the optimalprocess parameters, and achieve incremental forming successful implicated in the PVC sheet. Finally,by forming conical parts, measure and calculate the height and radial error value of work piece, and tostudy the impact PVC sheet incremental forming part accuracy and proposed error compensationmodel to improve the accuracy of the PVC parts.The research result indicates:1.Use the new incremental forming process which is using frictionbetween the high speed rolling forming tool and the sheet metal to heating the sheet can elevate theformability of PVC sheet in incremental forming.2. The main influencing factors of the precision inPVC sheet incremental forming is cooling contraction of part after forming, the size of the errorcaused by the rebound is a little, the stiffness of the forming tool is basically no effect on the precisionof the parts.3. PVC sheet incremental forming parts after error compensation by using simple mirrorprecision compensation model, can effectively improve the forming precision to achieve therequirements.
