In modern society, energy and health problems becomes the major subject of concern. In recent years, with rapid urbanization, vehicle’s number have increased dramatically, butvehicle exhaust leads to serious pollution around urban trunk road. However, in thearchitectures design of communities which closely related to people’s lives, the developersmostly consider the floor area ratio and the appearance of buildings, ignoring the pollutantdiffusion path that could potentially affect the entire form of community.Based on the above, this paper researches quantitatively into the relation betweencommunity’s spatial form and pollutant diffusion, using climate of Wuhan city as thebackground and introducing the city morphology index.First, a literature review on relation between community’s form and naturalventilation, technology research of pollutant diffusion is carried on in this paper, followedby a comparison between pollutant diffusion results been published and simulation resultsby using CFD techniques modeling. It then selects two indicator systems, Rugosity andPorosity,as well as simplified block model to analyses the simulation results of pollutant’sconcentration in different communities, and finally puts forward the better conclusions. The results conclude that the bigger relative rugosity, the better pollutant’sconcentration performance, in addition, community’s form along the dominant windgradually increased in favor of reducing its internal pollutant’s concentration. Andporosity in different forms and wind directions, community’s internal pollutantconcentration distribution varies. Finally, this paper further demonstrates the validity ofthe design strategies combined with practical engineering case studies, and outlines thepotential directions of future studies.
