With the rapid development of modern industry, the market demand of metalabrasive is growing. In the metal abrasive, because of the effect of cleaning andstrengthening of steel shot, the demand of steel shot is increasing trend year by year.At present, the most dosagecast steel shot which is the size between0.5mm~1.5mm,but the existing preparation technology by the production of cast steel shot its size israndom distribution, the cast steel shot which the size between0.5mm~1.5mm onlyaccounts the whole batch about40%, soit cannot meet the demand of market.The paper systemic analyzes the mechanism of centrifugal atomization broken.The theory of mathematical model which predict droplet size in centrifugalatomization is summaries. According to special structure of side hole type rotary table,the centrifugal atomization mechanism of fragmentation are analyzed, setting up therheoretical mathematical model which suits to predict steel shot of lateral hole typewheel in centrifugal atomization, and fixing the model coefficients, reducing theforecasting error of the theoretical value and experimental value model.Model parameters are selected: the number of rotate side hole, metal liquid flow,rotary speed, diameter of liquid cylindrical flow, broken length of liquid cylindricalflow and the nature of metal liquid. First of all, through the values of mathematicalmodel predicted values and experimental values, the above variable parameters to theinfluence of steel shot droplet size is analysed and discussed. Analysis shows that:The paper established mathematical model prediction of the theoretical value thanexperimental value is larger, but the error is within acceptable range. Through themathematical model and experiment: along with the increasing number of side hole,the reduce of metal flow, the increasing of rotary speed, they will reduce the averagegrain size of steel shot; through the mathematical model prediction analyses thediameter of liquid cylindrical flow, broken length to the influence of steel shot particle size in the last, with the decrease of the liquid column flow diameter and the brokenlength, they are conducive to the decrease of the average particle size of steel shot; thesmall metal liquid of density, surface tension, viscosity coefficient forms droplet sizeis greater than the big liquid metal of density, surface tension, viscosity coefficientunder the same speed.
