The foam finishing, which has advantage on energy saving and emission reduction, hasattracted great attention recently. Foam finishing means that the water used in the finishingliquor are replaced by much air, which can inflate the concentrated solution of finishing liquoror dyeing liquor into foam. Then the foam spreads on the fabric surface by coating scraps onthe surface and permeates in the inner of fabrics, along with the uniform distribution ofchemical reagents. In this way, the chemical reagents are saved and materials are also reduced,meanwhile decreasing wastewater discharge.A brief introduction to the foam coating and functional finishing for textile were given inthis paper. The foam agents have been chosen based on foam mechanism analysis. Foamcoating have a low permeability.Using this characteristic, the fabric was treated just on oneside, and the other side has original style. In this case, the treated fabric would be morecomfortable for wear. Foaming ratio, foam height, foam density and foam half-life areselected to measure the foam ability. Orthogonal and single factor analysis method was usedto discuss the formula of foam coating agents for water-proof finish, water-and-oil-repellentfinish and Antibacterial finishing respectively. Foaming temperature and stirring time werediscussed. the best curing temperature and curing time were analyzed. The variousperformance indicators of fabric by foam coating was studied by the comparison tests ofpadding process.It showed that the chemical reagents are saved and materials are also reduced, meanwhiledecreasing wastewater discharge.foam coating by foam coating. The treated fabric feel moresoft and resilience.The foaming temperature and stirring time are the main factor.when thefoaming temperature at25℃and stirring time at6min, the good foam ability was obtained.Using foam finishing, the single side of T/C fabric covers a waterproofing agent, the bestformula is that waterproofing agent was mixed with10%SDS solution by the rate of2:1,addCMC10g/L,HEC0.5g/L,HEC5g/L. best curing temperature is160℃and curing time is3min. Compare with the finishing process of dipping treatment, the liquid pickup of this process lowered from45%to26%, save agent55%. Using foam finishing, the single side ofpolyester fabric covers a water-and-oil proofing agent. A water-and-oil-repellent coating agentwith solid foam was gotten. Foam density0.611g/cm3, and the foam half-life was45min.The foam ability and stability was good to attain foam finishing demand. With foam finishingmethod, cotton fabrics were treated by chitosan antibacterial finishing reagents. Chitosansolution of low molecular weight mixed with foaming reagents, foam stabilizer and newwaterborne polyurethane adhesives, to form a new stable foam coating reagent, of which thefoam half-life was more than30min. cotton fabrics with chitosan by foam coating processhad good antibacterial effect on staphylococcus aureus, colon bacillus, candida albicans. Theantibacterial degree was over90%, and it could retain80%after washing many times.
