It is becoming high and steep slope in the process of open pit mine excavation, with the increase of the slope excavation depth, slope stability and security is getting worse, therefore, the slope stability and security is an important issue; On the other hand, it is an important means to lower mining costs, full recovery of resources and increase recovery efficiency to improve the slope angle for large-scale open-pit slope excavation, so in the process of large-scale open-pit mining,it is becoming increasingly prominent contradiction to insure slope safety and reduce production costs for increasing economic efficiency. At the same time, there will be a large number waste-----dump in the excavation process. The dump generally stacks open, accounting for the ground particularly large, and has brought many environmental problems. If the dump is too close from the slope,it may also trigger landslides and other geological disasters. Therefore,under the promise to ensure slope safety,how to determine the dump distance is also of great significance to mining open pit safety. In the view of this, the main contents are as follows:1、Collecting, processing and analyzing the basic information of the Xinjiang East Gobi molybdenum mine, mastering the basic situation of mining area, conducting site investigation and sampling to prepare for the next step.2、Samples were processed to obtain the rocks corresponding to the East Gobi molybdenite key slope and the potential instability region, then the rock mechanics experiments were done indoors to get the basic rock physical and mechanical parameters which provide a basis for the latter part of the slope stability analysis.3、An improved evaluation method of rock slope stability——CSMR is proposed based on the SMR evaluation, which helps to calculate the open pit mine slope of the CSMR score, and to obtain the slope rock mass quality grade that understand the stability of the slope.4、The typical profiles of the open pit slope were numerically simulated with FLAC3D.The results were used to determine each section of slope stability conditions, thus to choose the appreciate enforcement measures in the instability region of the slope to ensure the safety of the open pit excavation slope.5、With the application of numerical simulation technology of FLAC3D,the different dump safety distances of slope profile stability ware analysed. The best dump safety distance was studied on considering to make the minimum and optimal economic transport distance under the promise to ensure the slope less affected.
