Abstract:High volume fraction aluminum silicon carbide (AlSiC) composite was widely used as electronic packaging materials and structure materials in aerospace, special equipments, high-speed rail and other fields. At present, most study on AlSiC are stay in laboratory research stage, and there have no industrial production in China. Therefore, it is very necessary to study on pilot-scale production of high volume fraction AlSiC.In this paper,60-70vol%AlSiC composites were fabricated through vacuum pressure infiltration from porous preform prepared by compression molding. Based on the stable preparation process of laboratory experiment, a process of annual production capacity of200m2AlSiC plates and vacuum-pressure infiltration furnace were designed. At last, a scale-up experiment was carried out. The shape of vacuum-pressure infiltration furnance was vertical cylindrical with nominal power of12kW using Cr15Ni60as heating material, rated temperature of900℃, ultimate vacuum of0.06Pa, and the maxium pressure of12MPa. Q345R low-alloy steel and16MnIV were used as the furnace shell material and lid material, respectively. The vacumm system and cooling system were equipped with a NG33-X30rotary vane vacuum pump and a centrifugal circulation pumps with a flow rate of1.5m3/h, respectively. The phisical properties of AlSiC from scale-up experiment was (3.0±0.1) g/cm3of density,(6.5~8.5)×10-6/K of CTE, more than160W/(m-K) of thermal conductivity. The results showed that the vacuum-pressure infiltration furnace had a good stability, and the product properties have reached the standards of the foreign manufacturers. There were22figures,34pages,18formulas and102references in this paper.
