Steel slag has huge stock in our country. It not only occupies largeareas of lands, but also pollutes the environment. Steel slag possessesunstable state and potential activity and its structure is at high energystate. After being ground, the activity of steel slag might be activated,which promoted its recycle and usage. In the process of making use ofhoromill to grind steel slag, according to material conservation, steady-state model was made.In view of the above model, taking horomill as the core, five steel slaggrinding process systems, such as cycle pregrinding system, combinedgrinding system, mixed grinding system, semi-finished grinding systemand the finish grinding system, would be studied in order to improve theefficiency of recycling and using steel slag as well as provide a referencefor the utilization of steel slag in the steel enterprises.Choosing finish grinding system to grind the powder of steel slag at450m2/kg and utilizing the powder instead of some cement clinker, theexperiments about steel slag powder and mixing slag powder wererespectively conducted. Experimental results showed when only mixedthe steel slag, mortar strength of concrete at the different ages were lowerthan that of pure cement at the same age. When mixed the steel slag andslag, mortar strength of concrete with different contents at28d werehigher than pure cement at the same age. Moreover, mortar strength at7dwas the best under the mass ratio of steel slag-slag reaching1to3. Theabove experiments proved that steel slag after being ground by horomillwas in possession of some engineering applications.
