As a kind of new type and efficient fire extinguishing agent, condensed aerosol extinguishing agent has been rapid development and application. But as a kind of pyrotechnic composition, it would release amounts of heat and residuals when the firefighting substances come out, and it is easy to bring secondary damage to the protected space. In this paper, we have redesigned the formulation of aerosol fire extinguishing agent, used a kind of cooling and filter layer which could absorb heats efficiently to reduce the outlet temperature, and the ability of aerosol fire extinguishing agent to extinguish the wood crib fire has also been studied.In order to design the lower combustion temperature aerosol fire extinguishing agent formulations, we determined the range of options of raw materials and formulation design principles based on the work of predecessors and theoretical calculations. We chose potassium nitrate and strontium nitrate as oxidizing agent, phenolic resin as the binder, the ratio of extinguishing time and combustion time as a new standard to judging the fire extinguishing efficiency, combustion time, residual ratio and combustion temperature as the characterization indicators, we identified the combustible agent and the modifier, and eventually confirmed two formulations of aerosol fire extinguishing agent. The combustion temperature of this two formulations were507℃and590℃respectively.The cooling and filter layer was constituted by porous ceramics with coolants sodium bicarbonate and potassium bicarbonate. The experience results show that this method can goodly decrease the temperature of aerosol and potassium bicarbonate shows a better cooling effect than sodium bicarbonate.In addition, the wood crib fire extinguishing experiment was carried out, results show that the aerosol fire extinguishing agent has the ability to extinguish solids fires.
