Landslide hazard is increasingly frequent, the impact and losses are also gradually raising. So the research of slope becomes more important. Slope stability analysis that is widely used in the projects is a fundamental and complex problem. At the beginning of the slope design, engineers tend to have higher safety factor, but it does not necessarily indicate that the slope is safe. Some uncertain factors of slope engineering need risk assessment and analysis, in order to preferably avoid and reduce the accident losses. The present situation of the slope stability analysis and risk analysis at home and abroadareintroduced in this paper, main methods of the slope stability analysis are expatiated, research is mainly focused on the application of the limit equilibrium methods and FLAC3D numerical simulation methods of the Open stope of Maan mountain. The paperelaboratethes the risk analysis theory of the slope instability, identifies main risk factors of the slope instability, and describes the consequences of landslide disaster. On the basis of reliability theory, quantifies risk that have been identified, estimates failure probability and losses of the slope. Starting from the acceptable risk of slope instability, studies that the risk can be accepted by the whole slope system, and carries on the risk management. Finally, the above theory will be applied to Ma Anshan open pit slope, collecting and summarizing relevant data, using limit equilibrium method to calculate the safety factor, carrying outnumerical simulation with FLAC3D,and analyzingall aspects of its stability.Combined with the theory of risk analysis, estimating the failure probability and the disastrous consequences.
