With the development of open pit mine engineering, the number of is increasingcoal mines in our country. The study of soft rock slope stability is a difficult problem, especially the slope contains weak layers is more complicated. In this paper, thestability of slope which contains weak layers is studied based on research results of softrock slope stability at home and abroad, by using theoretical analysis, numericalsimulation and field measurement. Cohesion and friction angle of mudstones withdifferent water ratios were got by direct shear test, which provided reliable parametersfor numerical simulation. Limit equilibrium analysis and finite difference method havebeen used to evaluate weak layers slope stability, and a failure mechanism for collapseof weak layers was determined. Linking slope radar monitoring with numericalsimulation can reflect the actual situation on soft layers exactly, which can providesecurity for mine production.
