With the rapid development of the productive forces and the improvement of people’s living standards, production and life safety has increasingly become a concern of the people. Mine methane gas and methane gas in the environment possess huge dangers. Therefore, the research and development of effective and timely detection equipment have been receiving increasing attention.In this thesis, Tm3+-doped germanate optical glass and germanium gallate optical glass were prepared by high-temperature melting method. The glass samples were prepared by different rare earth ion doping concentration and different GeO2/Ga2O3ratio in experimental process. The coefficient of thermal expansion, density, refractive index, absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra of the glass were tested, simultaneously. The various parameters of the glass, including the oscillator strength of the line intensities, JO theory strength parameters, spontaneous radiative transition rate, the radiation level life, branching ratio, the absorption cross section and emission cross section were calculated by J-O theory and McCumber theory. The optical properties were analyzed, which were affected by the variation of Tm3+doping concentration and GeO2/Ga2O3in the matrix glass. The mechanism of action between the rare ions and the matrix material in the germanate optical glass and germanium gallate optical glass were revealed.
