Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are toxic, harmful for environment and human health that exist extensively in earth. Naphthalene is made up by two Benzenes, which exists extensively in the atmosphere, soil, water and the precipitate. It is the typical representative to PAHs eradication. Microbial degradation is the main method of PAHs eradication in natural environment and therefore is of importance to investigate.A strain with high naphthalene degradation ability was separated from the polluted soil in the Songyuan Oilfield of Jilin province. The strain uses naphthalene as sole carbon source and belongs to Pseudomonas aeruginosa of Pseudomonas sp. by16SrDNA analysis. The homology is99%.The degradation characteristics were investigated including temperature, pH. dissolved oxygen.Addition of antibiotics at subinhibitory concentrations, such as Tc and Van.facilitate the degradation.it is possible because of the increasing expression of the degradation genes or the increasing secretion of biosurfactant rhamnolipid. The degradation rate of naphthalene by the strain reached83.3%in two days under optimized conditions. Finally, put the strain to the actual polluted soil from Songyuan Oilfield in laboratory simulation test, and the degradation rate of naphthalene by the strain reached60.4%.
