Based On The Structure Of Children’s Food Packaging Safety Design Research

It’s widely believed that food quality and safety deserve the most concern; however, in fact, food packaging also constitutes an important element for food safety. As children are still in the developmental stage, it’s hard to predict the potential danger lied in packaging, which makes children the vulnerable groups. The safety of children’s food has attracted special attention of the society, enterprises, designers and consumers. Literature method was employed in this article to collect, compile and study relevant monographs, journals, papers and picture information at home and abroad, which helped define the concepts and scopes of children’s food packaging safety. The ages of children were divided according to psychology into babyhood, infancy and school age for further analyzing and grasping the mental and physical features of children during the three stages and their consumption characteristics as well as their demand for packaging structure. Then, analytic hierarchy process was used to classify varieties of packaging structures of children’s food, according to which liquid food and solid food are the general varieties, while bottles, boxes and bags are the common forms. Meanwhile, packaging materials, including paper bags, flexible packaging, rigid packaging and other packaging materials, expose great influence on the safety and structure of children’s food. In the end, safety analysis was done on the opening way, sealing design and design for reduce which are related to the packaging structure of children’s food combined with design cases, through which effective methods and guide and control measures were put forward to secure the safe design of children’s food packaging.We should put children’s safety interests in the first place, advocate humanized design of food packaging, and take "experience design for children" and "barrier-free design" into the consideration of design principles of children’s food packaging. At the same time, reinforcing consumer’s safety awareness and enterprises’safety responsibilities can help build a healthy and safe food packaging environment.
