Since the discovery of carbon nanotubes, its unique structure and excellent properties have showed broad application value in a variety of fields. Carbon nanotubes has the advantages of small size effect, high specific surface area and high surface energy, it owns excellent electrical, magnetic, optical, thermal properties, as quasi-one-dimensional nanomaterials, it shows a good application prospect in the field of polymer composite materials. At the same time, it can be a good heat conduction material with superior thermal conductivity, high thermal conductivity polymer composites is prepared with the carbon nanotubes as fillers, it can greatly enhance the mechanical, electrical, thermal conductivity and other properties of composites, broaden the application field of polymer materials.The epoxy modified silicone resin is a new type of resin material with good comprehensive properties, it owns excellent properties of epoxy resin and silicone resin. It has superior adhesive, electrical insulation, oil resistance, corrosion resistance, good mechanical strength properties of epoxy and also has the excellent high-temperature, heat resistance, water resistance and good electrical properties of silicone resin,so it has good development prospects in high temperature resistant, anti-corrosion, adhesive-bonding, electrical appliances motor etc.This paper mainly studies on preparation and thermal conductivity of carbon nanotubes/epoxy modified silicon resin composites. First of all, multi-walled carbon nanotube materials were prepared through chemical vapor deposition, in order to improve the MWCNTs’s dispersion and interaction in the epoxy modified silicone resin, we performed a mixed acid purification and coupling agent modification of multi-walled carbon nanotubes materials, and the samples are characterized by SEM, TEM,XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and TG. Then, we use the MWCNTs and graphite powder as filler, MWCNTs/epoxy modified silicone resin composite materials is prepared by solution blending method. Finally, we study the thermal conductivity of the composite material by changing the filler’s ratio and filling the modified multi-wall carbon nanotubes.In the last of the paper, We study the filling ratio and the optimum thermal conductivity through the characterization of SEM and thermal conductivity measurement results of the composite material, and we analyze the problems existing in the research, then the future work was put forward.
