Green cutting is a modern manufacturing mode which aims at protecting theenvironment against pollution and conservation of resources. It is the externalization ofSustainable Development in manufacturing and a important characteristic of21century.The deep-hole-machining is the special processing technology for the deep-holecomponents in the machine-processing. And the massive circulation cutting-oils must be usedto cooled cutter and let scrap iron out in the processing, the consumption of cutting-oils ishuge, which can cause the work places pollution and threat operators health, the scrap ironwith cutting-oils will increase the processing cost and cause the air and the environmentpollution in dealing with. So that, the dry processing without cutting-fluids and near dryprocessing with Micro cutting-fluids will be one development directions of the deep holemachining technology.This thesis work undertakes design and installation of the MQL device for deep-holedrilling by using twist drills. Its feassibilty is demonstrated by practical experiments. Drillingof medium-carbon steel samples under different lubrications are performed: dry type,air-cooled, and MQL. Obviously, MQL is much superior than the others in thrust, torque, andcutting edge wear resistance. Consequently, technical parameters are determined to facilitatefurther improvement of this device. Hopefully, in some case, this twist-drill deep-hole drillingtechnology could be an alternative to gun-drill.
