The large-scale mining of mineral resources, is bound to generate alarge amount of the three representational castoffs from industry. Dealingwith them is an important aspect of safe production in mining enterprises.Our country is a mining giants, and produce hundreds of millions of tonsof tailings every year because we have not the technology or it is uselessto use it, most part of them is stockpiled in tailings dam,with a smallnumber of them comprehensively used or for mine filling or. Due to thechange of natural environment and its structure is unsafe, many countriesand regions have happened the unstability of the tailings dam collapse ormajor accidents,and it brings huge economic losses to related productionunit and enterprise, and at the same time bring immeasurable harm tosurrounding ecological environment and residents. So we should try ourbest to finish the work for the dam exploration and evaluation of stabilityas well as the safety management of tailings dam, which is of greatsignificance to the enterprise, society and country.Based on the data of engineering geological investigation for tailingsdam of HuanRen mining company, we make the most dangerous sectionprofile respectively for the tailings dam as the calculation object.On thebasis of the numerical analysis and field investigation, we use the limitequilibrium method for the calculatione of stability of the tailing dam tomake a comprehensive evaluation to the stability of the tailing dam.Based on in-depth study and research on the predecessors’ researchachievements of tailings dam stability analysis, this article use commontailings dam stability evaluation method and the calculation principle toanalyse the tailings dam stability with hoping sum up some experienceand new methods from the geological investigation and the process of thestability analysis.At the same time,in this paper there are a lot of digitalparameters and calculation formula and almost no subjective factor. So it is considerable for system software of safety inspection and echnicalmanagement information, to provide scientific reference value for theinformatization, digitization and intelligent management of tailings dam.
