Nowadays, Polypropylene SMS nonwoven is the main raw-material of surgical gown used in North America, Europe, etc. As excellent suegical gown materials, comfort ability and anti-permeability are basic requirements. However, the crude SMS nonwoven can not resist the permeability of blood and alcohol. Besides, aggregation of charges is found in this material, which is harmful to the medical equipment. All these drawbacks motive us to modify the crude SMS nonwoven with repellent to alcohol, blood and charge resistance. Currently, one sort of dominant finishing agents is fluorochemical surfactant with a film formation temperature above150℃. The finishing process with such a high temperature could impact the microstructure of polypropylene fibers. Moreover, without a reasonable choice of penetrants the functionality of finishing will be reduced largely due to the bad infiltrability of polyolefin materials. As far as we know, the study about substitutes of fluorochemical surfactants was just launched, and little work has done to filter finishing agents with both good functionality and environmental friendliness. Thus, it is as urgent challenge for industrial production and application to figure out a complete table filled with optimized engineering parameters after the study of relationships between material finishing temperature and fiber film formation, and relationships between high anti-permeability and structural and mechanical stabilities.After a large amount market-oriented survey, literature study and international intercourse, the following work has been done in this article. Firstly, with the consideration of thec principle of liquid repellent and antistatic, the compatibility of chemical reagents and environmental requirements, reagents were selected as following: TG-5502and TG-533as liquid repellent reagents, TF-481as anti-static agent and JFC and TF-107S as penetrants. Secondly, the thermal properties of PP SMS nonwoven materials were investigated with different baking temperatures and time. Fanilly, single factor experiment and orthogonal experiment had been done to get the best ratio of the fluorine finishing agents and anti-static agent, drying temperature and time, baking temperature and time.After this study, the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)In order to maintain the crystal structure and mechanical stability, the baking temperature range should be at110-130℃;(2)After the finishing procedure, all sample qualities can reach the national standards of operating gown. In detail, the alcohol resistant could reach the highest level10, the blood resistance is at level2and values of static resistance with TG-5502and TG-533are3.6UC/m2and1.3UC/m2, respectively, which are smaller than national standard (≤7UC/m2);(3) With the increasing of TG-5502concentration, the anti-static of SMS nonwovens decreases, while the alcohol resistance, contact angle and hydrostatic pressure increases. After the increase of TF-481concentration,the anti-static is from bad to worse, while the alcohol resistance, contact angle and hydrostatic pressure can reach a maximum.(4) With the increasing of TG-533concentration, the anti-static of SMS nonwovens decreases, while the alcohol resistance and hydrostatic pressure increases. The contact angle is quite stable. After the increase of TF-481concentration, the anti-static is from bad to worse, while the alcohol resistance reaches a maximum and hydrostatic pressure starts to decline;(5) The hydrostatic pressure can be enhanced with the film formation of fluorine agent finishing by curing. But the anlistatig may let the hydrostatic pressure reduce a few. In order to gain good alcohol and blood resistance, it is important to mix and fluorine agent anlistatig solutions properly;(6) The penetrant may be not needed in the formulation of TG-533while the requirement is low. When the highest alcohol repellent is required, penetrant TF-107S is a good candidate.
