In this paper, as the raw material, in the action of catalyst, bisphenol A polyether polyol with ECH reacted, its synthetic was a hydrophilic epoxy resin, and optimized the optimal synthesis process of the hydrophilic epoxy resin by the orthogonal tests. And through the experiments, performances of the hydrophilic epoxy resin was elementary studied. The research results showed that:the BEOGE was the product of the BEO which as the raw materials synthesized, its the hydrophilic, epoxy value, cured tensile strength and breaking elongation rate were superior to the synthetic product of the BPO-6and the BPO-10, its synthesis process conformed to the requirements of the design of experiment; the optimal conditions for reaction in the etherification stage of the hydrophilic epoxy resin were, that the mole ratio of ECH and the alcohol hydroxyl was1.0, the catalyst was Cat-1or Cat-2, the catalyst dosage was1.0g/mol of the alcohol hydroxyl, the etherification temperature was50~80℃, etherification time was2-5h; and the optimal conditions for reaction in the closed loop stage were, that the mole ratio of NaOH and ECH was1.2, the closed loop temperature was20~40℃, the closed loop time was3~5h, the concentration of NaOH was98%, namely the piece of alkali. Through the product was characterized by FTIR, and the result showed that the structures of the hydrophilic epoxy resin BEOGE was just the designed form.Because of the flexibility chain of the hydrophilic epoxy resin BEOGE was longer, when using amine curing agent curing, the cured’s strength was low, but for the modified ordinary epoxy resin with it, such as improved its hydrophilicity, toughness, and bond properties in wet or humid interface could better play to the merit of hydrophilic epoxy resin. Therefore, this paper focused on the modification effect of the hydrophilic epoxy resin to average the ordinary epoxy resin, we mixed the BEOGE with an ordinary epoxy resin DYD-128for a mixture, and studied the basic mechaincal properties, toughness, heat resistance and bonding tensile strength of steel-steel of the cured. The results showed that:when the dosage of hydrophilic epoxy BEOGE is15%, the mixture got the most suitable basic mechanical properties; the incorporation of the BEOGE could significantly improve the toughness of the cured, so that the breaking elongation and the impact strength were increased to varying degrees; but at the same time, the glass transition temperature of the cured was reduced, resulting in decreased heat resistance of the cured and make the cured had a certain degree of flexibility at low temperatures; in the wet surfaces, the incorporation of the BEOGE could effectively reduce the loss rate of steel-steel bonding tensile strength, but the loss rate of steel-steel bonding tensile strength didn’t change much when the dosage of BEOGE over15%.In this paper, the performance of the curing agent of different types on a mixture of the BEOGE with DYD-128were studied. For the cured, the basic mechanical properties, toughness, heat resistance and bonding tensile strength of steel-steel as investigation index were investigeted, and the type of the best curing agents was determined.
