In this paper, we propose a development of designing in piano tuning devicebased on ARM. The piano tuning device has the features of easy to carry,convenient operation and low price. In this system the sound signals of the pianokeys are converted to electrical signals, and by using ARM control UDA1341foranalog-digital conversion. Through digital signal processing method we canobtain the fundamental frequency of the piano. Meanwhile, the LCD displayshows the difference between the measured frequency value and the standardfrequency value, so the user can adjust the tightness of the piano strings. Infinally, the piano tuning can be carried out.S3C2440A chip of SAMSUNG is the core of the hardware platform. Thesignal acquisition circuit, the data storage circuit, the power supply circuit, thekeyboard controlling circuit, the communication interface, LCD display andtouching screen interface circuit are all designed. The software works in the QtCreator environment. The programs include the control of UDA1341initialization, the control of the signal acquisition, the signal conversion, themeasurement of the digital signal by FFT and the data interface display. In theembedded system has completed the building of system developmentenvironment, the migration of Linux system, the driver development and testing.The simulation in using FFT algorithm for the piano tuning device, obtained thefundamental signal spectrum and completed the design of control interface inapplication system.The piano tuning device in this paper can accurately measure thefundamental frequency of the piano keys, then analysis the test data, and providea new method and an objective evidence for the piano tuning design in the future.
