China petroleum chemical industry produce large amounts of oily sludge, and the output is on the rise year by year. Oily sludge as the main pollutants in the<Directory of National Hazardous Waste>, if discharged directly without treatment, it can not only cause pollution to the surrounding environment and production areas, but also is a waste of resources. So it is very important to analyze the physical and chemical properties of oily sludge, which is the research premise of effective utilization and Innocent treatment of oily sludge.First this paper introduces the sourcesã€harm and classification of oily sludge, and expounds the situation and development trend of oily sludge treatment. This paper also introduces the measurement method of the main physical and chemical properties of oily sludge.Secondly through comparing all kinds of analysis method, this paper find out the method which suitable for oily sludge. Oily sludge is a kind of solid waste whose composition and the structure is complex, so this article measures and analyzes the physical and chemical properties of oily sludge itself, residue isolated from the oily sludge, oil isolated from the oily sludge respectively, including industrial analysis, oil content, moisture content of oily sludge samples; the particle size distribution and component analysis of residue; product groups and element analysis of oil. The analysis result shows that oil sludge residue phase analysis can deduce the production way of sludge; Oily sludge oil source can be deduced by the oil of sulfur content; And by the size of the sludge oil content, moisture content can be roughly concluded that the category of the sludge.Finally, on the basis of the laboratory test of three kinds of oil sludge samples, the effect of such parameters as temperature, shear rate and slag content on the rheological properties was investigated. Experimental data were analyzed by the power law constitutive equation. The results showed, that the shear stress increases, the viscosity decreases, and oily sludge gradually changes from the Pseudoplastic fluid to Bingham fluid with the shear rate increasing. The viscosity and Pseudoplastic characteristics of oily sludge increase with the temperature decreasing. The viscosity and non-Newtonian characteristics of oily sludge also increases with the slag content of oily sludge increasing.
