Epoxy resin has a series of excellent properties, such as good adhesive properties, good mechanical properties, good electrical insulating properties, corrosion resistance, low dielectric loss, moderate price and other characteristics, so it is widely used in the coatings, adhesives, composites and plastics etc. But because of its has some shortages, such as high crosslinking density, high brittleness, poor impact resistance, high surface energy, high water absorption, poor heat resistance, low tensile shear strength,which greatly limits its development in many high technology fields. Therefore, the application of modified epoxy resin or development of new high performance epoxy resin will be considerable attentions.This research is using aromatic amine and epichlorohydrin reaction, production a new type of multifunctional epoxy resin---M,N,N’,N’-Tetralycidyl-2,2-bis [4-(4-aminophenoxy) phenyl] propane(TGBAPP), the epoxy resin structure contains flexible groups which can greatly improve the toughness of epoxy resin, and the resin has high rigidity,as a kind of high temperature resistant epoxy resin, the epoxy resin can be used as matrix resin for high performance composite materials.This research topic is divided into four main parts:1. Synthesis and optimization of N,N,N’,N’-Tetralycidyl-2,2-bis [4-(4-aminophenoxy) phenyl] propane(TGBAPP).2. Preparation and properties of solvent type TGBAPP adhesive system.3. Comparative study on performance of TGBAPP epoxy resin and TGDDM epoxy resin.4. Preparation and properties of solvent-free type TGBAPP adhesive system.To start with,2,2-bis [4-(4-aminophenoxy) phenyl] propane (BAPP) and epichlorohydrin(ECH) have been used as the raw materials to synthesis together in additives A-50and C-20, then start react with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, finally we can get the TGBAPP product though the post-treatment methods such as extracting, washing, distillation under pressure and so on. The epoxy value, viscosity and volatile matter of TGBAPP were tested. We have a study on the effect of the amount of additives, the proportion of raw materials, ring opening reaction time, closed loop temperature, alkali rate and so on, then select the optimum reaction process. Under this reaction condition, the epoxy value is0.57-0.58, the viscosity at85℃is4.05-4.82P, the yield of reaction is92-96%.Secondly, the influence of changing the proportion of curing agent BAPP and MXDA of the TGBAPP epoxy. the mechanical properties, water absorption, viscosity, apparent activation energy, surface energy, electrical properties and other properties were tested. The studies showed that tensile shear strength of adhesive is20.3MPa when BAPP/MXDA is1:2, apparent activation energy is44.2kJ/mol, bibulous rate is1.37%, surface energy is43.44mJ/m2, dielectric loss is0.03-0.04.Using five kinds of curing process was studied on the performance of TGBAPP adhesive and TGDDM adhesive. The studies showed that the tensile shear strength of TGBAPP adhesives are generally higher than that of TGDDM adhesives, gelation time of TGDDM adhesives are slightly smaller than the TGBAPP adhesives, the activation energy of TGBAPP is60.5kJ/mol. TGDDM type is56.6kJ/mol, both of them have low surface energy,water absorption and electrical insulating.To study the performance of TBCE adhesive and TBDM adhesive. The studies showed that when DDS content is15%, the tensile shear strength of TBCE adhesive is26.6MPa, at160℃is11.8MPa, apparent activation energy is47.8kJ/mol, surface energy is42.3mJ/m2, water absorption is1.21%.but the tensile shear strength at160℃and190℃of TBDM sereis adhesive basically remain above10MPa,especially heat resistance of TBDM-1is good, the ensile shear strength is6.9MPa at240℃.
