Even though the tobacco machinery industry of China has achieved greatdevelopment in recent years, the key tobacco machinery technology is stillmonopolized by abroad. Combined with the high-speed and high-quality developmenttrend in the future cigarette-making technology, this paper presented a new method offlexible transferring with variable pitch for high-speed cigarette in order to overcomethe deficiencies in the existing typical cigarette-transferring technology and device.Besides, two different flexible transferring devices with variable pitch were designedand analyzed based on this method.The research first analyzed the technology of variable pitch in the drum systemof MAX. The reason and necessity of variable pitch were discussed, and the processconstraint of variable pitch in every drun was studied. According to the optimizationguidelines of the variable pitch distribution, the optimized scheme of variable pitchdistribution in the MAX’s drum system was qualitatively determined. Then, throughthe analysis of the key technical problems and technical requirements in the processof cigarette transferring, the mathematical model of flexible transferring with variablepitch for high-speed cigarette was established. Third, baesd on the mathematicalmodel, the structure of the Spider-Taking-over drum transferring device wasoptimized to meet the demand of flexible transferring. By building the simulationmodel of the optimized device and analyzing the the error between stimulation resultand calculated value, the rationality of the optimization was verified. Finally, a newflexible transferring device with variable pitch for high-speed cigarette was proposed.The working principle of the new transferring device was introduced, and themathematical model of the cigarette transferring process was established. The criticalstructure parameters were designed, and the rationality and reliability of the newdevice was confirmed by simulation. This new device can be applied to dual-track oreven multi-track cigarette production, through the device’s space rotation transferringmode, the cigarette’s axial acceleration can be radially decomposed, thus achievingthe purpose of smooth braking in the process of cigarette transferring.
