The domestic roller parts often adopt the traditional casting methods, in order to ensure the internal density of the casting roller, the factories often extend the length of roller’s upside-neck as a riser to feed. This method could not only completely eliminate the defects of the internal shrinkage, but also cause a lot of the production cost and the waste materials. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposed the squeeze casting technology to applied in forming and manufacturing roller, and it was in the aspects of the technological process design of squeeze casting, the mold design, the design of squeeze casting machine, the simulation for normal gravity casting and squeeze casting to analysis the process and the result and the experiment of squeeze casting were studied.First of all, in the technological design, this paper searched the roller of175x480as the research object. The squeeze casting method combined with the ordinary casting to identify as direct squeeze casting forming, adopting the way of one-mold by one-part and using crown block for demoulding. In the design of process parameters, the paper deduced the start time and holding pressure time formula based on the characteristics of the squeeze casting on roller.In the mold design of the squeeze casting on roller, the main indenter, the deputy indenter, the mold of roller’s barrel, the mold of the roller’s upside-neck and down-neck, and the basement were carried on the detailed design specification; In the design of the squeeze casting machine, the paper put forward to adopting the vertical squeeze casting machine,and proposed the technical requirements, and through the calculated relevant parameters to determine the main technical parameters and structure parameters of the squeeze casting machine of the roller.According to the process scheme and the design of the mould, the roller of175x480were simulated in the squeeze casting process to forecast the defect position, at the same time, compared with normal gravity casting process simulation under the designed condition, it can find the shrinkage under the squeeze casting technology was eliminated, and the paper put forward the measures of eliminating the shrinkage appeared in the roller’s barrel under the actual production situation.Eventually, through the verification test of narrowing barrel of the roller, the defects occurred in the forged part on the condition of the squeeze casting technology such as the slag, the crack, the shrinkage cavity and porosity were analyzed theoretically, and improvement measures were put forward to optimize the technology scheme.
