With the emphasis on sustainable development, cities pay more and more attention on their environmental issues. As one of the main sources of energy consumption and pollution emissions, the logistics get growing concern about its impact on the urban environment. It is very necessary to study the mechanism between urban logistics system and environment, and how to reduce the impact as much as possible, to achieve the harmonious development between logistics, economy, and environment.Based on the theory of urban logistics system, this paper analyzes the constitutive elements and operating characteristics of urban logistics system through the methods of combining qualitative and quantitative study, combining theory and practice study. Then research on the inherent relationship between environment and urban logistics systems, combined with the environmental impact of logistics activities. On this basis, study the urban logistics system’s impact on environment from the aspects of logistics infrastructure, logistics information systems, advanced logistics technology, and urban distribution methods. Then quantify the impact factors, and do the correlation analysis between the impact factors and environmental output to verify the scientific of the impact factors. Finally, do the empirical analyses of Beijing for example based on factor analysis. Then find key influencing factors, which are the selection of the urban distribution mode and the application of logistics system information technology. According to these studies, give recommendations of how to improve the relationship between Beijing urban logistics system and the environment.
