Laser cutting technology has advantages of high speed, high efficiency, good flexible, wide applicable scope and low noise compared with traditional cutting methods, and has been used in every field of industry widely. In allusion to laser cutting technology of sheet steels, this article analyzes systematically the mechanism of interaction between laser and material and the principle of laser cutting, and establishs mathematical model of temperature field in the process of laser cutting based on the theory of heat transfer and finite element method of thermal analysis. A simulation program is written in APDL language of finite element software ANSYS, the changing rule of temperature field in the process of pulse laser cutting sheet steels is simulated, and the basis which chooses reasonable cutting parameters for laser cutting is provided in this article. The research of YAG laser cutting experiments in different thickness of Q235A and1Cr17Mn6Ni5N steel plates is carried out based on single factor test method, and the influence rule of laser power, cutting speed, pulse width, repetition frequency, distance of focus and workpiece surface, pressure of auxliary gas on cutting quality is analyzed. The influence degree of laser power, pulse width, repetition frequency on average of upper and under kerf width is analyzed systematically based on double factors test method, and the result shows that influence of laser power is most significant, influence of pulse width is more significant.
