Two kinds of reactive type dropping agents, M and F were synthesized. Their chemical structures containing hydroxyl, arbonyl and double bond. Grafting-copolymerization of linear low density polyethylene with M and F was carried out by using irradiation in air in a twin-screw extruder, respectively. FITR and1H-NMR were used to characterize the formation of grafting copolymer after purification. Comparing with the FTIR spectrum of LLDPE, it was found that two kinds of reactive type dropping agents, M and F has been reacted onto LLDPE molecular chain. Chemical titration and FTIR were used to characterize the formation of grafting copolymer and evaluate their degree of grafting. The effects of monomer concentration, reaction temperature and screw run speed on degree of grafting were studied systematically. It was found that the degree of grafting increased with increasing monomer concentration and reaction temperature. Thermal and rheological properties of grafting copolymer were studied. A little change was found for thermal and rheological properties. The tensile properties and light transmission of blown films were determined. Comparing with pure LLDPE film, no obvious changes could be found. The wettability is expressed by the water contact angle. With an increasing percentage of monomer, the contact angle of water on film surface of grafted LLDPE decrease monotonically.We described a one-step process to fabricate the LLDPE film using reactive type dropping agents F as a functional reagent with low temperature plasma method. The modified LLDPE films were characterized by attenuated total reflectance ATR-FTIR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Comparing with the FTIR spectrum of LLDPE, it was found that the reactive type dropping agents, F has been successfully reacted onto the surface of LLDPE film. Use of weighing, the contact angle and SEM characterization means to analysis the effects such as the plasma conditions, plasma processing power, the plasma time. The results showed that low temperature plasma treatment power is too high, time is too long, the membrane surface will produce different degree because of crosslinking which affect the grafting. According to a certain proportion, two kinds of grafting copolymer blown film. Thermal and rheological properties of grafting copolymer were studied. A little change was found for thermal and rheological properties. The tensile properties and light transmission of blown films were determined, no obvious changes could be found. The test results show that the compound films were better than the grafting copolymer film without compound on wetting properties.
