Crusher is widely applied in the industries of metallurgy, mining, coal, water conservancy, construction, environmental protection, chemical and so on. But the movement status and crushing process of supplies in the crusher’s crushing cavity are very complex and difficult to be observed through direct or indirect method. In the past, the idea of designing crusher went like this: while the designers calculated the stress of the crushing cavity, they often considered the scattered material as continuous block or often ignored the interaction existing between material blocks, and also ignored the effect of interaction on breaking materials. Thereby they got some empirical formula, and designed crusher through the empirical formula. In view of this situation, this paper has used the numerical simulation method based on discrete element method, and has carried preliminary research on the computer modeling and simulation of the movement rules and crushing process of the supplies in crusher.The paper has used the powerful FISH language and internal function owned by PFC3D discrete element particle flowing program, and has programmed to simulate the movement and crushing process of the supplies within the hydraulic and gyratory cone crusher through command flow programming method. Through this program, users are able to input different parameter values to change the shape and position of crushing cavity, to change the property of ore pieces, etc. Thus users can test different parameter conditions, observe the movement condition and crushing process of the supplies within the crusher, and get some parameter values and their curves generated in the process of crushing supplies in crusher. Therefore it can provide reference for designing new crusher which is more effective, more energy-efficient and of more superior quality.Through the data access, related calculation and commissioning the program operation parameters, such as the size parameters, friction parameters, the rigidity coefficient, etc, the value of the parameters of the mathematical model used in the paper was determined. And based on it, the trajectory of a particle in the crusher was tracked. The mass movement path of the particle chart was gotten. And it was compared with the movement path of the particle in crusher in theory that used in the traditional study methods. It was found that the traditional method is too idealistic and it was certain limited.Based on the complexity of the crushing process and by the point of view of using the discrete element method to simulation the aqueous supplies, the paper modeled and simulated the movement rules and crushing process of the supplies in crusher with the computer. It had provided a feasible method of researching the crushing process. It had provided the reference for the design of the crusher in some parameters. The finally conclusion is that the procedure and the method provided by the paper had certain practical value.
