As an important component of mining dump truck, the com-partment’s stiffness and strength properties directly related to the performance and working life of the vehicle, The structural design of the compartment is particularly important, it’s lightweight de-sign has a great influence on the vehicle’s power and fuel economy By combining multi-body dynamics with finite element analysis method, designing and optimizing the structure of the mining dump truck’s compartment. Based on multi-body dynamics simulation analysis, Getting the value of the acceleration of compartment un-der several typical and nasty conditions, and the resulting data to be loaded into the finite element model of compartment to analyze it’s stiffness and strength which can test its structure design is reasonable and safe or not.According to the CAD model of the mining dump truck, Estab-lishing vehicle model to obtain the acceleration values under sev-eral typical conditions. By meshing the initial design of the com-partment’s model, imposing constraints and loads. At the same time, establishing the load steps, in order to analyze the stress and strain under the several typical conditions. However, the stress values exceeds yield limit stress, some parts of the structure must be reinforced to improve the overall performance of the vehicle. The new model is obtained by improving the structure, re-mesh, impose constraints and loads, etc. Analysis and calculation the fi-nite element model again.After comparison, the stiffness and strength have improved a lot. To study the vibration characteris-tics of the new model, avoiding produce resonance phenomenon. Extracting the first ten order modes, calculating the excitation frequency caused by road roughness, meanwhile, calculating the engine vibration frequency under the idle condition, modal analy-sis was carried out on the frame which closely connected with the compartment. By comparison we can found the first few order fre- quency values of compartment and the frequency of the latter three have large difference. It does not lead to resonance phenomena. In view of mine dump truck in the working process of the actual load-ing of the goods, due to the impact of the goods, so the compart-ment is liable to damage, by simulating the impact process of the compartment, we obtain the value of the deformation and stress, they are all meet the design requirements, the new compartment model structure design is reasonable.Lightweight design is a hot area of current research, in this paper, we carry out multi-objective optimization design on the new compartment, the bottom beams’thickness as the design variables, the compartment’s stress and quality as the objective, establishing the compartment’s approximate model. Taking the multi-objective particle swarm optimization to get the quality and stress’s pareto solution set. To obtain a feasible and effective CAE technical analysis methods in this paper. This form of finite element analy-sis, multi-body dynamics simulation analysis and structural opti-mization design analysis process as one of mine has a strong guid-ing significance of R&D and innovation by dump truck.
