Intumescent flame retardant emit little somke and no toxic gases when burned.. Moreover, the combustion flame retardant intumescent char layer can absorb fire, molten polymer to prevent the spread of fire dripping combustion, flame retardants is the future direction of development, is an efficient and environmentally friendly flame retardants, development prospects. But the set of acid source, gas from an ammonium polyphosphate (APP) with easy to absorb moisture, difficult dispersed shortcomings, Therefore, modification on it of significance. About the results of this study to broaden the application areas and improve flame retardant efficiency APP has some theoretical and practical significance.In this paper, APP and pentaerythritol (PER) complex, consisting of halogen-free flame retardant system expansion (IFR), for styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) flame retardant. Mechanical properties, flame retardancy and water resistance of the composite material were studied. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TG) analysis was used to mesure the thermal stability of the composites. APP was modified with environmentally friendly cashew nut shell oil. Using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to characterize the resulting modified APP, PER tie and put CKAPP and added to the SBR study conducted flame retardant. Adding maleic anhydride grafted styrene (SBR-g-MAH) to the SBR/IFR system as solubilizers. The effect of SBR-g-MAH content on the mechanical properties of the composite system, thermal stability, flame retardant and water resistance were studied. The results showed that:(1) Add IFR SBR can improve the flame retardancy of the composite material, however, when added alone APP or PER, flame retardant properties of the composites did not significantly improve. Only when the APP and PER and used when appropriate and proportional, can promote good char protect the substrate material, When the APP/PER ratio of2/1, the expansion of the carbon layer is preferably generated, LOI of composite reached28.5%, can reach V-0rating of UL-94test.(2) IFR was added directly in SBR, with the increase of the amount of IFR, the mechanical properties of the composite tensile strength, tear strength,300%modulus, etc. were different degrees of reduced. IFR is a polar material, and SBR is a non-polar, they compatibility is poor.(3) CKAPP was obtained by modifying APP with CNSL. Solubility of CKAPP is significantly lower than APP in water, the solubility in80℃water is only0.7537g, while APP is3.5512g. LOI composite basically unchanged before and after immersion, had little effection on UL-94test, the water resistance of the composite material significantly improved. The carbon layer of material added with CKAPP/PER was better better than added with APP/PER. When CKAPP/PER ratio is2/1, LOI of composites reached33.5%, uniformity of the carbon layer, the density of the best stability. The fire-retardant property of the composite was best.(4) The mechanical properties of the composite added with CKAPP/PER was better than added with APP/PER, had little difference with non. Tensile strength reached18.5MPa, tear strength was31.5KN/m.(5) SBR-g-MAH was added to improve the compatibility between the SBR and IFR, the mechanical properties and anti-soluble of the composites was improved. And when SBR-g-MAH dosage was9phr, tensile strength and tear strength of the composites were increased to18.6MPa and32.8KN/m. SBR-g-MAH addition on SBR/IFR composite can improve flame retardant, the material had good overall performance.
