Kapok fiber is only small varieties of natural cellulose fiber, which has not been fullydeveloped and utilized in the field of clothing. The hollow degree of Kapok fiber is as highas90%, which is the favourable materials of heat insulation, sound insulation, heatpreservation, filling and oil absorption, except that, there are new performance about kapokfiber is that which has good natural anti-bacterial, drive mite and close skin,so kapok fiberhas good potential to treat high-grade textile, and which has put into used in these field thatflocculant material, filler, buoyancy material, heat insulation material, sound insulationmaterial, oil absorption material and reinforcement of composite material etc. However, the application in the field of textile and clothing is limited because of the weakperformance of kapok fiber dyeing.Hyperbranched polymer is novel macromolecules with three-dimensional dentriticarchitecture, there are enrichment of end group in their surface, which makes the polymershave a little better reactivity. Except that, hyperbranched polymer has unique chemical andphysical properties, such as high solubility, low viscosity, many functional groups on themolecules surface, and so on. They had wide range of research and application inagriculture, medicine, liquid crystal, functional materials, life sciences, cosmetics and paint, etal. However, the research that kapok fiber was modified by hyperbranched polymer toimprove kapok fiber dyeing performance is not reported. Based on the previous relevantwork of HBP-NH2, synthesis of HBP-NH2and HBP-HDC and applications of them onkapok fiber to improve the dyeing performance have been researched in this paper.HBP-NH2is synthesized by methyl acrylate, methanol and ethylenediamine via thecouple-monomer methodology.Cationic modification agent is synthesized byepichlorohydrin and N,N-Dimethyldodecylamine, in the processing, concentrated sulfuricacid is used to adjust the solution pH. HBP-HDC is synthesized by HBP-NH2and cationicmodification agent. The products were characterized about their structure and performanceby UV-vis spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy. The results show that HBP-NH2and HBP-HDC have good ultraviolet absorption performance, low viscosity and excellentsolubility property in strong polar solvent, such as water, methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol.Kapok fiber is modified by HBP-NH2and HBP-HDC, and then, the fiber is dyed byreactive dyes, the results show that:(1)Kapok fiber is modified by HBP-NH2, The processcondition of modification: the dosage of HBP-NH22g/L, bath ratio1:100, JFC2g/L,modified temperature60℃, modified time30min, the HKF was received through theprocess; The dyeing process of reactive dyes: the dosage of norwich cloning RED FN-R2%(o.w.f), bath ratio1:100, JFC2g/L, the dosage of NaCl40g/L, dyeing temperature60℃, dyeing time60min, the dosage of Na2CO310g/L, fixation time60min. The dyeingpercentage of modified kapok fiber is much higher than kapok fiber from40%to75%.(2)Half oxidation kapok fiber(GF) is modified by HBP-NH2, The process conditionof modification: the dosage of HBP-NH26g/L, bath ratio1:100, JFC2g/L, modifiedtemperature60℃, modified time10min, the HGKF was received through the process; Thedyeing process of reactive dyes: the dosage of norwich cloning RED FN-R2.5%(o.w.f),bath ratio1:100, JFC2g/L, the dosage of NaCl50g/L, dyeing temperature60℃, dyeingtime60min, the dosage of Na2CO315g/L, fixation time60min. The dyeing percentage ofHGKF can be up to85%.(3)Kapok fiber is modified by HBP-HDC, The process condition of modification: thedosage of HBP-HDC4g/L, bath ratio1:100, JFC2g/L, modified temperature50℃,modified time30min, the HHKF was received through the process; The dyeing process ofreactive dyes: the dosage of norwich cloning RED FN-R2.5%(o.w.f), bath ratio1:100,JFC2g/L, the dosage of NaCl20g/L, dyeing temperature60℃, dyeing time60min, thedosage of Na2CO310g/L, fixation time60min. The dyeing percentage of HHKF can be upto99%, the fixation rate can be improved to77%, both K/S and washing fastness are littlebetter than HKF, and in the dyeing process, the NaCl dosage of HHKF are much less thanother dyeing.
