The Investigation Of Community Residents’Environmental Consciousness In Rural Tourist Destination

In recent years, rural tourism has flourished throughout China, together with earth-shaking changes in economy, society, environment in rural tourist destination, as well as many negative influences on local environment, especially the problem of environmental disruption. How to deal with the contradiction between rapid development of rural tourism and increasingly serious environmental disruption in order to realize the sustainable and healthy development of rural tourism has become the problem demanding prompt solution. As one of the principle of related profits of rural tourism, community residents’level of environmental consciousness is directly related to whether the local rural tourism can develop healthily and sustainably.The thesis starts from three dimensions of environmental consciousness:environmental knowledge, environmental attitude, environmental behavior, and focuses on the community residents in rural tourist destination to design the questionnaire, and then makes a comprehensive research of residents in Xinzhou, Liulinzhou town, Junshan District, Yueyang in the ways of literature research, questionnaire survey, empirical analysis. The thesis defines scores and specific level by reference to the previous model of calculating and grading methods of environmental consciousness level and deeply analyzes the influential elements on the level of environmental consciousness in Xinzhou. The research shows that(1) the synthesis score of environmental consciousness of residents in Xinzhou is only59.94, which is low and equal to qualified level. It shows that the level of environmental consciousness of residents in rural tourist destination is low, which requires for strengthening of environmental education;(2) the average score of environmental knowledge of residents in Xinzhou is55.94, and the score of environmental attitude is67.7. there is a great discrepancy between the score of environmental knowledge and attitude, which indicates that the mode of environmental consciousness of community residents is the mode of "environmental knowledge restriction as well as environmental behavior restriction".(3)the influential elements on environmental consciousness of community residents are gender, age, educational background, profession, income and family structure, of which the educational background has the greatest influence with a direct proportion between them. Then it is income whose level increases as the environmental consciousness;(4)television, journals, broadcast, such traditional medias are still the main channel for community residents to acquire environmental knowledge, and improve environmental consciousness. Government, school, and non-government environmental protection organization do not play their role.As to the above research results, the author analyzes the reasons for the falling behind of environmental consciousness, and proposes a series of measures to improve their consciousness, hoping to provide a certain data and theoretical support for reasonable development of rural tourism by government and improvement of residents’environmental consciousness. At the mean time, it can also provide a research approach for other studies on environmental consciousness of tourist destinations and other related principles with tourism profits.
