Oil Drilling Mud Pump (ODMP) is honoured as the "heart" of drilling machine due to its performance affects drilling rate and cost. Triplex single-acting piston pump-as typical traditional ODMP is widely used in rig service. With the drilling depth and drilling difficulty increase continuously, however, traditional ODMP cannot meet the needs well drilling demands. Therefore, the features of high pressure, huge power, small bulk, light-weight have become the targets for ODMP designer. Aimed at the weakness of traditional ODMP such as large mass, high-inertial, large pressure surge, a new type five cylinder ODMP is researched and developed and is used in oil drilling machine.Based on the analysis of research status and development tendency of ODMP at home and abroad, aimed at the problems of3cylinder ODMP, main research contents and key technology of a new type5cylinder ODMP are confirmed in this thesis.A crankshaft with six-point-support-and-five-bent that can improve the load conditions is designed based on analysis of5cylinder ODMP working principle. Sliding bearings have been employed for both ends of connecting rod, and the rod structure is optimized according to the bearing size. This makes the bulk and the weight of complete machine sharply drop. The fluid end assembly structure is designed specially and spray lubrication system is used to decrease the components working temperature more effectively. The pump is directly driven by AC frequency variable electric motor, which can improve the load condition of transmission components and increase the pump operational reliability. The mechanical analysis, stress calculation and rigidity and intensity check for main parts and structures of the new type ODMP are carried out by ANSYS software.The5cylinder ODMP designed has been manufactured and its industrial experiment has been tested by Sichuan HongHua Petroleum Equipment CO.,LTD,. The test results show that the problems of traditional ODMP have been improved. Comparing with traditional ODMP, new one shows the advantages as:the pump pachage mass and bulk decrease50%, output pressure surge decreases16.5%and no need for exhaust air chamber, the weight of moving parts decrease70%and the moving parts with small inertia force and smoothly work, this makes the service life of the transmission parts improved largely. Because of its large displacement, one new5NB2400GZ type ODMP can instead of two1600hp old ones. The new type ODMP has been designed and applied successfully in oil drilling machine. The competitive product not only brings about considerable economic benefits for our firm, but also has well social benefit.
