This essay deals with nitrobenzene wastewater treatment by Fe-C micro-electrolysis which possesses industrialization potential and application value. In order to ensure experimental data, this essay established a measurement method that could determine nitrobenzene. The traditional spectrophotometric method could not determine nitrobenzene accurately due to the interference of Fe3+during the reaction while headspace-gas chromatography method could avoid this interference and give accurate results. Results indicate that the optimal operating conditions for nitrobenzene wastewater treatment by Fe-C microelectrolysis are initial nitrobenzene concentration100mg/L, mass ratio of iron to carbon2:1with iron2.00g/L and carbon1.00g/L, pH value3. After50minutes’reaction, the nitrobenzene removal rate can reach99.84%. Addition of electrolyte (NaCl) can enhance nitrobenzene removal with removal rate of99.84%after25minutes’ reaction under electrolyte concentration of more than600mg/L. Besides, kinetic equation for nitrobenzene Removal has also been established as followsThe impact of various cations and anions on nitrobenzene Removal has also been investigated. Cu2+and Fe2+, NO3-, SO42-can enhance nitrobenzene removal rate. Ca2+and Mg2+do not have an obvious impact on nitrobenzene removal while SiO32-and PO43-can have a negative effect. The effects of HCO3-and SO42-on nitrobenzene removal rate are influenced by their concentrations.
