Artificial grass and turf backing fabric were made of thermoplastic polymer in original artificial turf, however, the adhesive material was thermosetting. Thus the adhesive, artificial grass and backing fabric should be separated first before being processed, so it was very complicated and costly. The aim of this subject was to prepare a recyclable adhesive material to make artificial turf be overall recycled.Based on artificial turf manufacturing, paving, recycling processing technology and equipment constraints, we designed acrylic emulsion adhesive to replace the styrene-butadiene emulsion which has been used as the existing turf adhesive. Firstly, the styrene-acrylic emulsion was synthesized as the adhesive emulsion. The effects of monomer-proportion, the amount of cross-linking agent and emulsifiers on application performance were investigated. The results showed that the viscosity enhanced with the increase of the ratio of2-EHA/St, the amount of cross-linking agent or emulsifiers. The shear bond strength enhanced with the increment of cross-linking agent or the ratio of St/2-EHA. The particle sizes of emulsions decreased with the increment of emulsifiers, while increased with the increment of cross-linking agent. Secondly, the effects of different emulsions and fillers on adhesive application performance were studied. The results indicated that emulsion with Tg=-5℃, particle size=301.0nm had a very good compatibility with fillers. In filler system, the formula with filler/emulsion=1.2, coarse whiting:kaolin: cement=28:7:15, adhesive viscosity=750cp was the best. Besides, the drying process and drying model of the adhesive were studied. The results showed that the Page model was the best one for describing the drying process. The moisture effective diffusivity, which increased from2.46xl0-8to4.15x10-8m2/s and the activation energy was26.95KJ/mol. Finally, the recycled artificial turf materials were modified by coupling agent and compatibilizer. Besides, the feasibility of the overall recycled artificial turf was verified. The results showed that the mechanical properties and processability of the recycled materials can be effectively improved by adding a certain amount of coupling agent and compatibilizer. Meanwhile, artificial grass with the modified recycled materials can meet the national standard, and it demonstrated that the artificial turf can be overall recycled.
