Recently, with the rapid development of world economy, it is increasing demand for resource. As main transportation tool for huge open coal mine and ore sites, the demand for the mine dump truck is quickly increasing. For domestic technique relatively falling behind, the demand for mine dump trucks mainly depends on importation in a very long time. To change this situation, A manufacturing corporation to successfully develop the first type240tons mine dump truck, which has self-owned intellectual property rights.As a main loaded part of mine dump truck, the performances of the rear axle housing decide the quality in a way. It is impossible to get the product performances for designing new products by lots of experiments. Therefore, the static and dynamic characteristics and fatigue life are analyzed with advanced virtual simulation technology.Firstly, the whole model is built with ADAMS/View, based on multi-body system dynamics theory. The forced curves of rear axle housing are exported under dynamic analysis of three conditions for MDT.Then, the finite element analysis model of the rear axle housing is built. According to the result of dynamic analysis, the static is analyzed, which is compared with the experiment results. The simulated stresses almost accord with the experiment, which testify this model. Moreover, the strength is checked based on the forth strength theory. The safety factors of three conditions are more than one. At the same time, the dynamic characteristics of the rear axle housing are simulated numerically, which elicits the first16frequency and modes of modal analysis.Lastly, fatigue life of the rear axle housing is analyzed under the normal and ultimate conditions, making use of MSC.Fatigue software. The fatigue life under the normal condition is able to meet the requirements, but the fatigue life under limited condition is optimally analyzed. At the same time, the sensitivity between the fatigue life and changes in the load is researched, which finds that the fatigue life is extremely sensitive with the counterforce of tie rod and suspension.
