The reasonable conversion range of65%-72%for the butadiene-styrene emulsion polymerization was established on the effect of high conversion on Mooney viscosity, content of polystyrene, content of gel, latex viscosity, mechanical stability, molecular weight and distribution in the laboratory research, as well as the analysis of the polymerization mechanism and the comparison of the operating parameters of the same domestic equipments. Then the polymerizing formula with high conversion was approved by theoretical research and the productive practice. Thus, the bottleneck limiting the effective operation of the equipments could be overcome, such as low utilization of monomer, high degassing load, poor deaeration, etc.
