Grinding is always taken as the final processing method so as to obtain a fine surface roughness and accuracy. According to the statistics, grinding takes up more than 25% of the modern machining method. As a newly developed machining method, grinding hardening machining carries on the heat treatment processing in the workpiece’s surface with grinding heat to get a fine surface quality. Grinding hardening integrates heat treatment processing into the production line, reduces the number of producing procedures, shortens machining period and lowers the cost. Meanwhile, grinding hardening machining doesn’t use cutting fluid which is a pollution to the environment which is a green manufacturing method with a promising future.Grinding hardening machining is a complicated process with coupled fields of temperature, stress and phase transformation. This thesis indicates the essence of grinding hardening machining with martensite transformation theory and pointed out that surface quality of grinding hardening is under the influence of grinding force and grinding temperature. This thesis indicates characteristics of martensite transformation during grinding hardening process by dynamics and thermodynamics theory, corrected classic Koistinen-Marburger equation and provides the way of grinding hardening numerical computing. In the following grinding hardening experiment process, satisfying hardened layer in workpiece’s surface is obtained, the experiment results prove that grinding hardening is under the influence of grinding force and grinding temperature. This thesis provides numerical computing method of grinding force and grinding temperature according to the characteristics of grinding machining, which lays a solid foundation for implementing grinding hardening numerical computing. The conclusion of this thesis would give a practical guidance on understanding of phenomenon of coupled fields of temperature, stress and phase transformation, and grinding hardening numerical computing.
