Metal forging process is a kind of quite complex and large plastic deformation process,which is effected by material properties, friction, process parameters, die structure, and forging equipments. In order to improve the analysis and design level of forging process, it is necessary to conduct research on theory of plastic forming and relative factors, such as material properties, equipment characteristics etc, which are very important to improve the quality of forging parts.In this paper, the relationships between forging equipment and metal forging process are discussed, and the characteristics of equipments, including mechanic press, screw press and hammers, and their effects on forging process, are analyzed. Besides, FEM application techniques of different forging equipments based on the analysis of equipment are proposed and implemented, and the characteristics of SPKA1120 clutch screw press are introduced.The processes for R280J1 Blade are analyzed, and the three-dimensional FEM models of hot forging of R280J1 blade are also established. The parameters of forging equipments are analyzed and confirmed according to the advanced research on the equipment characteristics of SPKA1120 clutch screw press. The three-dimensional FEA software DEFOERM is used for numerical simulation of the forging processes. The influence of these parameters on forging process is analyzed according to the simulation result, and the forming laws, the distribution of the stress and strain of the parts are obtained. By comparing the simulation results with the experiment results, the conclusion has demonstrated the reliability and practicality of the FEM application techniques for dealing with the equipment characteristics.Besides, the hot die forging of steel piston is performed by DEFOERM 3D and the parameters model of equipment are established according to the characteristics analysis of C41-400 hammer and 2500T mechanic press. The forming processes of the performing, pre-forging and finish-forging are obtained, and defects are analyzed through the numerical simulation results. On the basis of the analyzed, modified suggestions and methods are proposed.
