Urban Agricultural Community Construction

Currently, human beings are faced with many urgent problems such as thegrowth of population, global food crisis, consumerism, globalization and foodmonopoly, urbanization and urban sprawl, energy and pollution, food safety and soon, these issues make human beings think about the way of life in the future, andexplore the road of sustainable development. With Reflections on sustainabilityissues, the concept of urban agriculture began to appear in people’s vision. Urbanagriculture opposes the centralization of power and advocates of localself-sufficiency, so the community as a city cell becomes the primary basic unit todevelop urban agriculture, urban agricultural community construction has alsobecome an important issue in the current practice of urban agriculture.Firstly, according to the meaning of urban agriculture and community, thispaper defines “urban agricultural community”, and studies about urban agricultureand the basic problems of urban agricultural community, which can be used in laterstudy. Then based on it this paper does research on the agriculture layout andimplementation methods of urban agricultural community. Agriculture can becombined with community open space and single building, which two constitute theagriculture layout system of urban agricultural community. Community SupportedAgriculture and Permaculture also be combined to constitute the implementationmethods system of urban agricultural community, which takes the principle of “CSAmanage person, Permaculture manage agriculture”. At last, according to theseconclusions, a design for a real site is done to inspect the research results, whichproposes six typical design patterns, with design analysis and evaluation. Thisresearch-led design can be used in practical project.
