As the rapid development of automobile industry and growth of vehicle population,resources and environment are facing tough challenges in our country. Electric vehicle(EV) seems to be an important way to protect our energy security and transformeconomy to a Low-Carbon Economy. Range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) as a newtype of new energy vehicles which fills the gap between the conventionalinternal-combustion engine vehicle and the electric vehicle, and has been the mostpossibility to be industrialization product and enter the common families at presentstage. Therefore, REEV has been the research focus in the automobile industry at homeand abroad. The main details in this paper are as follows:①Search and read the available literatures to analyze the definition, workingprinciple and operational features of the REEV, as well as the present technology levelat home and abroad. Though comparing several typical system structures, thepowertrain system of the REEV is determined as the research object in this paper, andrelational research are done.②Based on the design principle and target of the powertrain system for REEV,and combine with the working characteristics, a new drive scheme of the powertrainsystem is proposed, and its structure and working modes are elaborated in details.③The method of parameter match is instructed. According to the structuralfeatures of powertrain system and performance targets, the key parts of powertrainsystem for REEV have been selected and matched.④Based on the analysis of working modes and parameters matching results of thepowertrain system, multi-logic thresholds control strategy has been proposed. Statetransition flowchart between different working modes has been set in Matlab/Stateflow.At the same time, braking control strategy and battery working state control strategy arealso studied.⑤The vehicle simulation models are set in Matlab/Simulink environment thoughthe theoretical analysis and mathematical modeling methods, then matching parametersand control strategy formulated have been simulated.
