Since1886, the car industry has been rapid development after the world’s first car wasdesigned and created by German Karl Benz. So far, the car has become one of the peopledaily life indispensable tools. Now the car ownership is on the rise around the world, but theoil as main energy of automobile is a non-renewable resources and becoming less and less. Atthe same time, the worsening environment has attracted the attention of the world. Theautomotive industry’s development direction is the new energy direction of clean andrenewable in such a context.The pure electric vehicle is the typical representative of new energy vehicles. Its sourceof energy is universal and economical electric energy. At the same time, it is friendly to theenvironment without any harmful gas emissions. But due to the limitation of batterytechnology, the driving distance and the cost are limited, which restrict its development.Range-Extended electric vehicle with another set of energy equipment makes up for theshortcomings of shortly driving distance. It is the most promising new energy vehicles.What mainly discussed in this paper is the Range-Extended electric vehicle’s parametermatching of powertrain system and control strategy. The main parameters of components ofpowertrain system are matched based on the basic theory such as vehicle theory, vehiclesystem dynamics and so on. Then the operation mode of the Range-Extended electric vehicleis analyzed and appropriate control strategy is proposed. The feasibility of the control strategyis validated by Matlab/Simulink and Cruise simulation software. The threshold in the controlstrategy is optimized based on the genetic algorithm in order to get better economy of thevehicle. The main content of the research are as follows:Firstly, the significance of research is discussed and the structure of the Range-Extendedelectric vehicle is given. Then the domestic and foreign research situation are introduced.The main parameters of power system components such as: motor, battery and extenderare matched reasonably according to the proposed dynamic target based on the basicparameters of a certain type of car. The vehicle model is established in the Cruise software.Then the result of the match is verified by it.The operation mode of it and several kinds of commonly control strategies are analyzed.The control strategy is formulated and analysis the working characteristic of the engine. Thenthe scope of work of engine is determined. The feasibility of the control strategy is validatedby Matlab/Simulink and Cruise software and comparing with engine fixed work controlstrategy.The threshold in the control strategy is optimized based on the genetic algorithm in orderto improve the economic benefit of the vehicle.
