With the rapid development of road transportation in our country, the proportionof large vehicles has increased year by year, volume of traffic has grown day by day,some terrible phenomenon on the high-grade asphalt pavement seems particularlyoutstanding, for example big traffic volume、high load and over load. As a result, theperformance of pavement has been demanded highly little by little. The crumb rubberhas been widely used in the research of modified asphalt by researchers because of itslow price、rich resources and simple process.This paper analysised the components and performance of the modified rubberasphalt, at the same time, reviewed the activation methods and mechanism of rubbermodified asphalt. On the basis of predecessors,achievements, this thesis puttedforward three kinds of external reagents to activate crumb rubber. In this way, the goalwill come true which is improving the volume of crumb rubber and the performance ofwaster rubber modified asphalt.The experiments main include: different volume of external reagent and crumbrubber, processing technique (the time and temperature of mixing), the methods ofadvance handling for crumb rubber. It also texted the performance of the rubberasphalt which added different external reagents. The experiments include softeningpoint, penetration, ductility, viscosity and elastic recovery. Through some parallelcomparisons and analyses, electing a optimal external reagent to research further thehigh dosage of crumb rubber. The results show that the performance of the rubberasphalt which used the crumb rubber activated by external reagent-WX is better thanthe ordinary rubber asphalt. The result is very perfect that the dosage of the crumbrubber can reach to45%.Finally, the paper summarizes the results of the study and some unclouded sides,at the same time, proposes some advice for the further research of high dosage ofcrumb rubber.
